A Randomized Controlled Trial Evaluating the Effectiveness of a Short Video-Based Educational Program for Improving Mental Health Literacy Among Schoolteachers

Background: Mental illness-related stigma represents a barrier to seeking and receiving appropriate mental health care. literacy (MHL) can improve knowledge, decrease stigmatizing attitudes, enhance help-seeking behavior. Starting from 2022, education is due be introduced in high schools Japan. For this current situation, we conducted parallel group, randomized controlled trial examine the effectiveness of MHL educational program for teachers. Methods: The described study comprised 50-min video lesson designed teachers' MHL. All participants were schoolteachers assigned either an group or waitlist control group. assessment was both groups twice: first at baseline then 1-h post-intervention. outcome measures changes intended behaviors. Results: showed greater improvement knowledge regarding than did not effective decreasing toward illness. However, increased intention assist students with depression. Limitations: No long-term follow-up implemented, which means persistence program's effect could determined. Further, report whether induced change behaviors providing support their students.
